Pradeep Niroula About

I am a physicist and a writer.

I grew up in Nepal and somehow ended up at Harvard, where I studied physics, math, and government. After graduating I worked at IonQ, one of the early startups building quantum computers. I did my PhD in quantum information at the University of Maryland and the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST), spent a short stretch at Google Quantum AI, and from 2023 to 2026 was at JPMorganChase Applied Research. My research has tried to make ideas at the frontier of physics and math do something useful.

More recently I founded Magic State Labs, where we use artificial intelligence to accelerate discovery in quantum mechanics.

I also write. My debut novel, The Innkeeper, is forthcoming from Blackstone.

I'm documenting this journey of using AI for frontier science in my newsletter, Bleeding Edges.
